Results of My Nineteenth and Twentieth Months on CALP
I don't know where the time went and since I am two months behind in updating my results, I decided to combine my Nineteenth and Twentieth months in one post. We are now in the holiday season and I keep adding more things to my overwhelming list of things to do.
I began CALP to get myself into better shape and I am happy to say that it is working! I am so pleased that I decided to begin an eating program that I actually discovered was perfect for me. I am also pleased that I decided to add the option of exercise into my program a month later since it seems to be the best addition that I could have possibly made for myself.
My program is so easy for me to follow that I feel like I am on auto-pilot. I thoroughly enjoy the foods that I get to eat since there is nothing that I can not have, as long as I restrict them to the guidelines of my program. I have found over the last year and a half, that I actually enjoy eating this way because I have my insulin levels under control. I can include chocolate or any carbohydrate in my Reward Meal and remain on plan, while still having complete control over my portion sizes. It is so nice to know that the meal I have eaten will keep me satisfied for the rest of the evening without any hunger whatsoever. I know that when I wake up the following day, I will not be hungry. The power that I now have over food is totally priceless!
Exercise was never something I thought would ever become a part of my life until I began following the CALP way of eating. I was 48 years old when I began this way of eating and my 49th birthday was only three months away. I knew that I could not continue on the same road I was on, if I wanted to stay healthy and remain active. I consider myself extremely lucky that I never became a diabetic because my lifestyle had been heading in that direction for a very long time. I chose to include exercise into my program because I wanted to get myself into better shape and I knew that it was the only way that I could achieve my goal of becoming fit and healthy! I have heard that after three months of doing a particular routine, it becomes a habit. I am in the habit of exercising six days a week and the results are extraordinary, if I do say so myself.
According to the BMI chart, my ideal weight should be 140 lbs. Since I can actually see the fat hanging off my body now that it is becoming tone, I believe I have another thirty five pounds of fat that I still need to lose. I never thought I would like the way I look in the 170's, but after losing over fifty pounds, I am pleased with the accomplishment I have achieved so far. Whenever I see myself in the mirror, I actually like what I see! When it comes to pictures, I can still see the bulges that need to disappear, but I am happy with the effort I am making and know that it is only a matter of time before I get there!
I was up a couple of pounds from the previous month, but I know that I have been following the program so I am going to allow the weight to take care of itself!
