Results of my Fourteenth Month on CALP

I apologize for taking so long to get this entry written and posted, but I am attempting to live my life and it became complicated for awhile.

I spent the entire month of April trying to get some outside work done before summer arrived. It seems like spring turns into summer pretty fast around here, so I knew I had a lot to do. I have a lot more to do outside but at least I was able to get started!

The time I spent away from home caring for my grandma turned out to be a lot busier than it was in the past. Grandma's cancer was getting worse every day and she was able to make her last trip to the casino in mid April. Easter Sunday was my son's nineteenth birthday and mom and grandma made plans to come to the casino the following day. Since they were coming the day after Easter, we did not go and visit them on Easter Sunday. I met them at the casino and got them settled in their room. We made plans for my family to join us for dinner at the casino and we all celebrated my son's birthday. Mom and grandma ended up staying for four days and I stayed with them so I could assist them both.

The reason I began my weight loss program when I did was because I was fat and I knew I had a problem with sweets. I would wake up in the morning and want to begin my day with something sweet. I didn't care if it was cake, brownies, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, cinnamon toast, anything, as long as it was sweet. If I gave in to my desire and began my day with something sweet, I would need to eat again a few hours later. When my hands would begin shaking, I knew I needed to put real food into my stomach, but I still wanted my next sweet fix.

By only including carbohydrates in my eating program once a day, it has allowed me to be in control of my food choices for the first time in my life. I now know how to enjoy everything I want, as long as I stay within the guidelines of CALP. I can not eat everything I want in a single day, but I know that I can include anything I want as my carb on that particular day. I would have never believed that I could bake cookies, cakes, and even brownies, without licking my fingers, or at least wanting to.

I continue to feel confident that I will reach my goal of becoming fit and healthy, one day at a time!
