Results of My Eleventh Month on CALP
February 2nd was weigh in and measurement day for me. Beginning the first day of the year, I began a weight loss challenge on one of my support groups. One of the rules of this challenge is to weigh ourselves once a week and reporting in on Mondays. Since I have been following that rule, I am aware of my weight on a weekly basis now.
I am not fond of using the scale because I have allowed it to dictate my behavior in the past. I want to eat what I want, within the guidelines of CALP, and not worry about the water weight that may show up on the scale the next day or following week. I do not believe the scale is the only way to measure success since it can not tell the difference between fat and muscle. The scale only tells me what I weigh at that given moment and I have no idea what the number will be when I reach my goal of becoming fit and healthy!
In order to become fit, I have continued to exercise six days a week alternating Bowflex strength training with three Leslie Sansone walking DVDs. I am following a new exercise schedule that appears to be working out very nicely for me. My workouts continue to be a challenge for me so my weight loss program is not as easy as it would be without them. The results of my efforts are extraordinary and very fulfilling!
In order to become healthy, I am following the guidelines of CALP and balancing my food choices. My Complementary Meal continues to include the same amount of protein as vegetables. My Reward Meal now begins with a substantial amount of lettuce with a cucumber being added for my vegetable. My protein and carbohydrate portions have become smaller, but I still make sure they continue to remain balanced with the cucumber or any other vegetable I eat.
I love CALP and still find it very easy for me to follow. It is not a challenge for me to remain on plan since I now know the effects carbohydrates have over me. I am still amazed that my Complementary Meals continue to satisfy me for hours and I am never hungry until dinner time. I can include anything I want into my Reward Meal as long as it is balanced with the rest of my food. I make sure to include the foods I want, so I am never depriving myself of anything ever again.
I am very happy with my program and my results speak for themselves!
